American University Saxophone Symposium This Saturday, March 26!

American University will be hosting a Saxophone Symposium at AU's Greenberg Theatre on Saturday, March 26. The all-day event will include lectures, recitals and performances by esteemed professors and performers selected from colleges across the country. This is a unique opportunity to examine from many viewpoints the relationship between composers and performers as new works are created for the instrument including Debussy's 'Secrets of Musical Composition,' 20th century female composers, and contemporary techniques. Highlights for the day will include a masterclass by Dr. John Sampen, a concert of debut works for the saxophone from an international composition contest, and an Encore Series presentation "A Tribute to Brian Minor." Musicians can bring their instruments for a free diagnostic from Beach Instrument Musical Repair while they enjoy the performances. Tickets and further information can be obtained from www.american.edu/perf_arts/symposium.
