Selmer Prelude

I've been shopping around and am now looking at the Selmer Prelude tenors. Any comments on these? Apparently they're a new model. Thanks!

    Re: Selmer Prelude

I did some research on them too. Well, you know there is Selmer-Paris, then Selmer-USA and now..... Selmer-China! Yes, those saxes are made in mainland China. Having said that, I did not have the chance to play one but several posts plus a local seller rated them as subpar student saxophones. I also read that soon they will be branded as Prelude only: that probably shows Selmer intention to keep distance from them. If you are at least a decent player, try before you buy, otherwise ask somebody else to test them for you. They are probably a bad deal, but I am not so sure. We cannot assume, in my opinion, that everything manufactured in China must be bad, an forever like that. They have margins of improvement too.
