Looking for information on Whittle soprano sax

I have a soprano saxophone given to me by my father. It had previously belonged to a cousin who had played in a New Orleans jazz band in the '50s. The labeling sys that it is a Whittle Zenith from Dallas Texas. SN is P24481L If anyone can shed some light on the origins of this particular instrument I would appreciate it.
