Martin Handcraft

I have recently received a somewhat scuffed Alto sax, and on further discovery, have found it is a Martin Handcraft. It seems to be etched with the words "Elkhart End". On the other end of the instrument it says "Martin 93999" 

Can somebody help me learn more about the age of the sax and anything I should know about it?
