What Type of Conn Would You Call This?

I have run across a Conn Tenor for sale locally in Cincinnati.

It is advertised as a 1967 Conn 10M.

My experience tells me the 10M stopped in 1962.

The seller tells me a small number of "10M"s were manufactured in Elkhart ,even after the Conn production was moved to Mexico. The seller has not given me a serial number, so I dont know.

It does look like a 16M with a 10M style neck and engraving.

Any experience with this version out there?

You might check out this old thread by Connsaxman_Jim.  Somewhere in there he states that the 6M and 10M models were still made in Elkhart until they closed the factory in 1969.  I don't know if you remember this particular member, but he was known for his expertise on Conn horns.

You must have an excellent memory. That was a 14 year old post.

Thanks for the info. That does explain it for me.

I play a 1946 10M, and I ran across this time line information again about a year ago, and this time I archived it in my files.  Connsaxman_Jim was very active on this forum until about 9 years ago.  I spent just a little time searching for him online, but came up with nothing after that time period.  I sometimes wonder what happened to him.

I ran across this in the Conn publication archive right here on this site.

From 1972. It does in fact have the !0M and 16M in the same advertisement. And a wonderful 12m with the mercedez key guard still available in 1972. There is currently one of these 12m horns in Akron at a music store for 1199.00.
