1980s Conn vs New Chinese alto sax

Looking to get back into playing after some 35 years.
Played a 1976 Conn shooting star back in the day.
Wondering if a 1980s Conn would be better than a new Chinese horn.
I know the MexiCONN are not well reguarded, but thinking it would be better than the new low price Chinese horns.
Thoughts?

In general, I would pick the Conn, assuming you get one that has been well maintained and doesn't need a full repad or anything. The really cheap new stuff that you can buy for sub-$500-600 isn't worth your time. Soft brass (you can bend it in your hand) and poorly built (keys start falling off before too long) would just lead to frustrations.
