Resonators: Plastic vs. Metal

    I think it makes more of a difference whether you have them or not as opposed to what they're made of. I prefer plastic ones as they give a little more room on the "soft" side of the horn. On the "loud" side, I can make up for it by tweaking the mouthpiece/ reed.

      I prefer the look of metal resonators, when one bothers to look on the inside of the horn. IIRC, however, the plastic domes can be a tiny bit lighter, and never corrode. I just like them to be more or less uniform accross the instrument. I have: a Yani A880 with all plastic domes a Buescher 400 Tenor with metal snap-ins a Buescher TT bari with Smooth Metal Domes to emulate the snaps (pre-snap model) a Rene Duval Alto with single rivet.
