history of a Karl Meyer alto saxophone

I have a very old alto saxophone here and I want to know a little about its history. Can anyone help? It is a Karl Meyer and the serial number is A2039. I heard that these originated from the Conn stable, but have been unable to find anything more. I am thinking of selling it and want to know a little of its history. I am based in New Zealand.
