SML Gold Medal MK. I Lacquer (Serial Number: 19322) Back to model

This is an extremely pretty original lacquer vintage SML Gold Medal alto sax, serial number 19322.

The body to the alto is in tremendously nice condition. The original lacquer has a nice color and which is further highlighted by the crisp engraving. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and bell flare are all in great original condition. Its construction features rolled tone holes, an adjustable lever for the G# key and a front F key.  This one also has all of the factory original gold plated springs. The original neck of the alto is with the horn.  It has never been pulled down but there has previously been a pick-up repair.  The pick-up was removed and repaired with a flush plug. There is no other solder work on this sax.

The Gold Medal plays with a rich and extremely responsive brilliance. These horns are fantastic regarding the ease at which they can take air in all while producing a precise and easy to control sound. There were not a lot of these made so it is always exciting to see one in great shape like this one.
