This beauty features its original and highly engraved gold plated finish. The horn was disassembled and cleaned, and received a complete tip-to-toe overhaul by the best technician in Canada, Al McLean. Al has replaced all pads, corks and felts, and has installed his own custom hand turned rivets on each pad. Materials and installation are traditional, although the pads are modern and firm waterproof pads. This gives a crips response that the original designer of the horn (ehemm... Henri Selmer) could not have imagined! Ergonomics are quite friendly, and the instrument sounds essentially indiscernible from an early 1960's Mark VI soprano. Amazing horn, perfectly playable, and ready to play for years to come. |
