What is the perfect Mpc For Open Sound (tenor dexter gordon sound )

Hello Memebers What is the perfect Mpc For Open Sound (tenor dexter gordon sound ) Becouse I play on very soft reed La voz Soft and on Mpc Ottolinke SPTM 6 * plz help me !!!!

    otto links have a darker tone. infact gordon played one. most of his famed career was on a STM 6. later in the 70's he played on a 7. i might suggest bumping up reed strength aswell. i play a hardrubber link 5* and love it. fwiw peace, ~Firk

    An open sound depends on the player and horn 1st and the mouthpiece second, I would guess. Since you're already using a metal piece, I suppose you'd have to try a different metal: See Phil Barone's website. Or get a more open piece with a stiffer reed. Of course the more open the piece - the softer the reed that can be used. Good Luck.

      I think you're right Donnie, Dexter played a Conn 10M Naked Lady horn. If you have ever blown one of those you will have a much better idea of where Dexter Gordon is coming from.
