Meyer Metal Mouthpiece

Does anyone know what kind of sound the metal meyer mouthpiece's produce on alto?

    It depends on tip opening, chamber size, and baffle size. Material (metal, hard rubber) has very little to do with sound.

      I agree, I have both a Meyer 5M Hard Rubber Mouthpiece and a Meyer Metal Jazz 5J metal mouthpiece. They both play very well, but I prefer the metal, it seems more free blowing to me. I use Rico Orange Box Reeds 2 strength, and I get a good tone, and can rip into altissimo! Of course, I can do that on the hard rubber piece, but it's much easier on the metal piece. The metal piece also works on C-Melody and Bb Tenors, I've found.

    Go to my site www.jasonkendallmusic.com I play a Selmer SBA 1952 with RICO ROYAL 3 on a Meyer 6J Metal Mouthpiece very easy to control
