    If you go to jazzbooks.com Jamey Aebersold has a free jazz handbook and in it you will find a beginners songlist that looks like the common jam session tunes.

        Common tunes will also vary by region. One approach is to go to the jam sessions a few times as a listener and see what the popular favorites are.
