The S-2 was designed to be a moderately priced horn, and they are rarely seen. The S-3 is an all copper horn with S-1 style keywork. They're quite dark and very delicious in tone. They're also tuned to A=442.

How about the 400 line ? I play a bari that's very staisfying on all counts and heard the alto is nice too.

No,,, the S1 and S3 were both made in two versions ,,, a lacquer and a copper ( Prestige ) the key work on the S1 and S3 are very different The S1 key work is very finnicky the S3 more like a Keilwerth !!! I know I had one !!

I have a 1960 Buffet SDA alto and it is a wonderful and amazing horn. I would not trade it for the world. Sincerely, Matt
