1950's Elkhart tenor sax

Anyone can give an approximate value of this sax? It has a giant elk head engraved on the side of the bell. Under the elk, it says built in Elkhart, IN. Its my fathers sax and i'm try to decide if its worth repairing. Thanks for your help.

    Re: 1950's Elkhart tenor sax

Your Elkhart was made by Buescher. Buescher was a major player in the saxophone business. While your Elkhart is a good horn, the going price is relatively low. It apperars that there are plenty of good Buescher horns on the market, Therefore the Elkhart gets underserved short shrift. Your horn would be a fine horn to refurbish and put into action if you want to play it. Otherwise you can wait. It still has sentimental value even if it not playiable.
