Identifying Alto Saxophone

I just received an Alto Saxophone and I am just trying to identify what kind it is as the serial number doesn't make any sense to me. I was told that it was a Conn, but I am thinking that it is a stencil of some kind. The info on the body says: Ptd: Sept, 14 1915 1153489 serial number 03436 It is an Alto Low pitch. It has "Made in Elkart, IN" on the bell and mother of peral keys and rollers. I am not so concerned about how much it is worth, I just want to figure out what it is... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, angela
