Selmer alto saxophone - what is it?

A friend has an old Selmer alto. He bought it in the 70s and it was "old" then. Serial number is M 64373 and it says Fabriqué en France par H. Selmer & C, Place Dancourt Paris. No serial number list that I can find on the net fits this serial number. Any ideas for what it is, please?

It would be a Selmer MARK VI (6) saxophone alto. Probably around 1956-1957 era. and you said it's made in paris. could be worth up to 2,000-9,000 depending on condition

Thanks basssaxman. I kind of got there myself but the 'M' prefix threw me. Thanks for your confirmation. Best regards, Kingsley
