Lockjaw and Junior

I have never seen Eddie Lockjaw Davis or Junior Walker mentioned here. They were two of my bigger influences as a 13 year old. If you want to hear a tough raw tenor sound , check out Lockjaw. Junior Walker plays like he is singing, so smooth , but yet gut busting. I remember when I learned to play Shotgun. It was my right of passage. Don't miss out on these players. Terry :))

    Re: Lockjaw and Junior

I cut my "tenor teeth" on Lockjaw and Junior Walker. Still do Shotgun, but I have to wear my tight pants to sing it. Thanks for the reminder, Jamterry.

I love Lockjaw's sound. I have a few of his "Cookbook" albums with Shirley Scott on B-3, and some with Johnny Griffin. I saw Lockjaw and Johnny Griffin perform in a small Chicago club twice waaaay back in the eighties. Marty
