Thank your girlfriend for thinking of you, but what you have a Conn Director student horn made between 1959/1960. These are so so quality horns as student instrument go, HOWEVER yours is at about the end of the era of the better vintage for this model. After 1960, production moved from Conn's Elkhart, IN plant to Nogales, AZ (and Mexico after that), and quality took a nose dive. If you can get it up and running without putting a lot of money into it (you can very quickly go upside down monetarily with these budget valued horns), then it will make a good horn to learn the basics on. Be glad it isn't a 1970 vintage model......peuew!

Thanks for the info. It appears to be in relatively good condition, though I won't be certain until I try playing it. Thanks again.
