vintage Buffet - Evette Schaeffer model Q's

Hi all, and thanks in advance for any info you can provide. I am looking at buying an old tenor sax for my son (high school student, jazz & marching band). I found an Evette Schaeffer model in great condition: lovingly cared for, new pads, etc. The serial # is 20676. According to the info I was able to find, it was made in 1912-13 - is this correct? Is this a good model for a student or should I look for something newer? How much should I offer the elderly gentleman if I decide to purchase? He's asking around $500 USD.

    ive got an evette schaeffer alto. its a decent horn. the horn you mentioned is probably from the 70's. for 500 bucks its a good buy for a student.
