Buescher Identification

I just inherited an old Buescher sax from my in-laws. My son plays and I'd like to fix it up or have it fixed up. I believe it's an Alto sax, silver, with the words "Truetone" and "low pitch" on the back. Serial # 584XX How would I find out more about this instrument? When it was made, etc. It has no dents, a bit of corrosion, needs new pads and cork. Is this something I can do as a handy fellow? Should I have it professionally restored? By whom? Thanks!

Thanks! It's from around 1920. Now, should I start working on it or have a skilled technician look it over? If so, who in the Washington DC area would be good? Thanks again!
