Cleaning Reed Mold

Im really bad at the saxophone, and It’s my second year playing on it.
I noticed black / grey gunk growing on my reed, and I googled a bit and found it was mold.
I figured I could fix it up by soaking my reed in hydrogen peroxide for a day, but it didn’t remove the discolouration. I don’t know if the reed is healthy or not, and I am also bothered by it’s appearance. How can I kill all the bacteria without damaging the reed?

    Re: Cleaning Reed Mold

Small amount of tooth past. Brush just one direction lightly, toward the tip.

    Rinse.

Hopefully after 2 years you are not using the same reed.

You should have like four that you use interchanging.

If not, you should just give up the horn

Is the reed cane or artificial?
