TENOR MOUTHPIECE ID

I PURCHASED A METAL TENOR MOUTHPIECE IN 1968 MADE BY THE WOODWIND COMPANY, NEW YORK. MODEL # X601. I AM LOOKING TO REFURBISH THIS PIECE, BUT DON'T WANT TO DESTROY ANY COLLECTABILITY IT MIGHT HAVE. WOULD ANYONE HAVE ANY HISTORY ON THIS MOUTHPIECE, AND POSSIBLY IT'S VALUE ? THANKS !!

    Re: TENOR MOUTHPIECE ID

Hello, Unfortunately I've found that collectibility and value is always hurt by getting a mouthpiece altered in any way. Although it may play much better, the value is significantly decreased. An all original Slant signature otto link 8 for tenor might sell for $1200 and up, if it got refaced you would be lucky to get $600. Obliously the quality of the work is very important, so if you choose to have it refaced send it to someone who is reputable. Good luck

Send an email with pictures to [email protected] and I might be able to help identify it.
