newbie

Former high school clarinet playr. My daughter plays tenor in the school bands (all 4 of them). Got into sax music because of her love for the instrument. She's a sophmore and is already lookinginto music based colleges. Joine site to keep her love growing for the sax. Any input on buying a brand name sax for her is greatly appreciated. Looking to spend about $2500. Used is ok. Fiend me or e-mail with help. Thanks to all.

    Hi Charles-

         There are many great options in the $2500 price range. You can get just about any variety of used good quality current production professional model saxophones in that price range. For example, Selmer Serie II or III, a Yamaha Custom ZZ or EX, Yani 991, Keilwerth SX90R. In new horns, you also find P. Mauriat priced in that mid $2k price range depending on the model. P. Mauriat has come onto the scene over the past 5-6 years and really established itself as a major player based on the high quality of product, very reasonable price andhigh  number of great artists playing and endorsing their instruments.       If you like the look and sound of the P. Mauriat horns, you should check out the saxes on Robertoswinds.com . . . They are similarly priced but tend to have more solid intonation and speak a little more clearly in the upper register of the instrument. And a lot of great players endorse them as well.
