Advice on buying Alto Sax for my wife
Hi,
So I'm looking to buy my wife an alto saxophone for Christmas. I rented her one a few months back to see how she got on and if she would stick with it, and now want to get her her own. I do not play the sax at all, so am unsure what to look for when I go shopping for one.
I would like one around £300 ($500), but do not know which brands are well built/designed etc. I understand that the mouthpiece plays an important part, but don't want to get her an instrument that is going to be riddled with problems in a year. Any suggestions?
I have seen one from a brand called Nuovo in my local (highly reputable) music store, and another by Elkhart (which is the same as her rented instrument) in another good store. Also I see most student saxophones are aimed at children/high schoolers, is there a difference in size or anything in these student models?
Many thanks!
