BMI stands for Broadcast Music Incorperated. BMI collects royalties from radio, television, the Internet, restaurants and thousands of other businesses that use music on behalf of songwriters, composers and music publishers. In effect, BMI acts as their representative so that the artists can get on with the business of creating new music while they collect their royalties.
