"the squeeeek"

When I am playing, I get a nasty squeeeek coming into notes. What is this from?? Is it breathing, pad condition, sax condition etc.....thx jk

    do you mean a squeek from the mpc? or is it through all of your notes (long and short)?

        perhaps a overused reed. Or the reed might be too stiff, small, and so on and so on. try switching reeds.

      Thx guys. The reed was new. regardless of the cause, I've returned the 'used Orpheum' sax to Sam Ash, which was quite painless might I add. Since nobody, or their mothers, (yes...nobody asked all of their moms) EVER heard of Orpheum, I ditched it. I think there were some unseen quality issues with the mechanical arms and leaks as I was getting a headache trying to play it (not at all like the alto I have). Anyway, buying a bandnow tenor to tool around with for now.....thx, jk

        No, not bandnow! I've heard nothing good about them!
