Paul Desmond

Hey everyone, I rewally like Paul Desmonds style of playing and his tone, and in my jazz quartet we sort of play similar to the Dave Brubeck Quartet style. What are your opinions on Paul Desmond?

    Desmond is one of the greatest alto players who ever lived! He has always been one of my favorites.

      I would say THE greatest ever. His beautiful tone combined with his melodic improvisations have never been matched. That's the sound I am striving for.

    if you don't like him, you don't like jazz. what i like is that his stuff was always "connected" is the olny way i can explain it. if he did stray from the melody it still made sense, or at least to me it did to me. the cat had a huge heart and it was seen in his style.
