MEYER Tru-Flex (-)

The Tru-Flex mouthpieces were the first pieces made by Meyer.  They were made in both metal and hard rubber.  They play with lots of body to the sound, and a nice roundness throughout. While they do carry with them that sound that you would expect from a vintage Meyer mouthpiece, they lack the same edge and intensity that would come with the nexy model of Meyer mouthpiece, the Meyer Bros.

Charecteristics of Meyer Tru-Flex:

  • Meyer stamp written vertically on back of mouthpiece
  • Facing stamp under Meyer stamp on back of barrel
  • New York stamp on shank under facing number
  • Another Meyer stamp on shank opposite of New York stamp
  • Cut out on table with "MeYer Tru-FlexFacing" stamped inside

The earliest models of this mouthpiece didn't have a chamber marking on them, and were for the most part large chamber mouthpieces.  Meyer would eventually offer these mouthpiece in different chamber sizes though, and they marked with a letter;  S=Small, M=Medium, L=Large.

The Tru-Flex model is generally less desired than the Meyer Bros model, not having quite as much volume, and punch, but they are still fantastic players.  As with all vintage Meyer mouthpieces, this model was handfinished, and the work was top notch.
