Buffet-Crampon had 3 models available in the S Series.
The S1 started with the basic design of the Super Dynaction, and added improvements to it. There are some cool features on this horn that are pleasing for players and technicians alike. In particular, the low C/Eb keys are sculpted towards each other, with a unique rocker-like mechanism that allows rolling between them effortlessly. The high F# key is activated (and "mounted") on both sides of the key, so it truly goes up and down and feels very comfortable as well. There is also an improved table key layout. Something you will only see on these horns too is a cut-out on the neck tenon where the F# tone hole sits.
The S2 is an intermediate model instrument, in fact some are stamped Evette S2. A good horn for advancing players, it offered excellent intonation like the S1 and S3, at a lower price.
The S3 is basically an S1 without the sculted low C/Eb keys.
The S1 and S3 models were also available as Prestige models, which featured a solid copper body with copper neck. You could also get these silver plated, so if you see a silver Prestige, it is still a copper horn under that silver.
